In Australia, Diamond Approach Work is offered in the following ways:
Twice yearly teaching retreats. These may be residential or non-residential and are usually held in or around Sydney.
Ongoing groups which meet on a monthly basis.
An ongoing program of private teaching sessions with a Diamond Approach teacher.
Students meet as a group wherever possible. In locations where a group does not operate, students work on the same material as other students by audiotape and teleconference.
Entry Level Programs
Entry Level Programs introduce students to basic concepts and methods of inquiry, and begin laying the foundation for ongoing work at deeper levels.
During this stage of the Work, students begin to work with and loosen the constellation of personality issues which block their access to the following Aspects of Essence: Compassion, Strength, Will, Power, Joy and Living Daylight. Students are also introduced to understanding the nature and development of the Soul, and the Enneagram. The knowledge and understanding of the Enneagram is a thread through all levels of work. In practice, work on this level takes several years.
After a certain time, students begin working on deeper levels of being at which time the group they are working with may close to new members.
Prospective students of the Diamond Approach are asked to:
Read books by A.H.Almaas: starting with Diamond Heart Book One I and/or Essence
Attend a 4-5 day Entry Level Retreat: Entry level workshops are held twice a year.
Have at least one private session/interview with a Diamond Approach teacher prior to the first retreat.
There is no obligation on participants of entry level programs to continue with the Work, although most participants generally intend to do so. The decision about ongoing participation is made in dialogue with a teacher.
